The Summer camp for Scouts and Guides unit was organised on 12 April 2023 from 8.00 am to 7.30 pm in the school premises of St Aloysius Gonzaga School. The main objective of this camp was to inculcate practical knowledge of some of the life skills for Scouts and Guides which will enhance their overall development.
The programme was inaugurated with the Flag Ceremony followed by All Faith Prayer. The presence of the Principal Fr. Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, the Resource person of the day Asst. District Commissioner (ADC) Mr Rohit S Rao, Guide Captain Ms Vijayalaxmi, Asst. Guide Captain Ms Agnes Saldanha, Ms Shamita Shetty, Mr Adithya Shetty and Mr Jeevan Salian motivated them. Students were led by Ms Jane Tauro of class VI C and Ms Shravya R Raj of class VI A.
Students learnt about different types of bandages and the method of providing first Aid in case of medical emergency.
In the following sessions the students learnt different knots using ropes & their uses, compass & the procedure to use it, basic map reading, estimation skills etc.
There was a Treasure Hunting for the students in the evening. In this outdoor activity they searched for treasures using woodcraft signs.
The students participated in the camp with great zeal and enthusiasm. The students organised a camp fire with cultural programme. The camp wound up with the National Anthem.
It is noteworthy to mention that all activities were conducted outdoors amid nature. It was a memorable experience for them as they learnt practical life skills through this camp.
