The third week of January 2023 was designated as Maths Week to boost students' mathematical confidence and curiosity. Pre-kindergarten through class VII and class XI students participated in various math-related activities. For students in classes VIII through X, the Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge was held as part of Math Week. These activities were actively participated in by the students, which helped to lessen their anxiety about the subject.
The culmination of Math Week was conducted on January 20th, 2023.On that day, separate Abacus sessions for classes I to V and VI to IX were organised. Abacus was introduced by the resource person, Mr. Soham P. Mishra - founder of Aksharam Academy, in an interactive session. He showed how it aids in calculations and ultimately aids in competitive exams. Principal Fr. Melwyn Anil Lobo, SJ, addressed the students on importance of mathematics in daily life situations and use tools like Abacus to ease the calculations.
Elston Pinto of Class V warmly welcomed the gathering for the first session. The programme was presided by Principal Fr. Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ. Sharva Bhat of Class IV highlighted the Significance of the Maths Week. Samaira Rithesh Marpe of Class III proposed the vote of thanks. Edrina Vinora Dsouza of Class V compered the programme.
The gathering for the second session was cordially welcomed by Shinead Fernandes of Class IX. The importance of the Math Week was highlighted by Surya Dinesh Poduval of Class VIII and the voteof thanks was made by Denisha of Class IX. The programme was compered by Rhea Rego of Class VIII.
