Staff Training Session on ‘First-Aid’

A staff training session on ‘First Aid’ was organized at St Aloysius Gonzaga School on 8 and 9 January 2024, in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Medicine, KMC Hospital, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Circle, Mangaluru. Dr Jeedhu Radhakrishnan, the Regional Head of the Emergency Medicine Department at KMC Hospital, was the resource person. The teachers attended this training session in two groups.

Dr Jeedhu Radhakrishnan, a parent of Aira Jeedhu from Class III C, shared his extensive knowledge and experience in handling emergency cases. He elaborated on the significance of 'First Aid' and provided insights into addressing everyday situations that necessitate first aid. During an interactive session, he showcased the proper administration of first aid for scenarios such as choking, burns, broken bones, snake bites, insect bites, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R). Teachers were divided into groups and given the opportunity to perform C.P.R on mannequins. On 9 January, Dr Karthik Rao conducted the session for the second group of teachers. Principal Fr  Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ highlighted the significance of First Aid knowledge for teachers. A total of 65 teachers, 2 admin staff, and the Principal attended the training session. All the participants were awarded a participation certificate. Ms Aparna Suresh coordinated the training session.
