GANDHI JAYANTHI CELEBRATION 2023

St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October 2023 in Gonzaga Hall to commemorate the birth anniversary of National leader Mahatma Gandhi.

The auspicious occasion was presided over by the Chief Guest Fr Leo D'souza SJ, Director, Bio-Technology Department, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, Vice principals Mrs Laurel Dsouza and Mrs Aparna Suresh.

Students from class I to XII were present for the program.

The programme commenced with the lighting of lamps and paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi by offering flowers. "Sarva Dharma Prarthana” was led by Rafa and team, followed by a Bhajan “Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram”. Aadhya Nayak of class VI welcomed the gathering. The significance of the day was shared by Rishika of class X. A role play based on Gandhian philosophy was enacted by the students.  Students of class III showed their patriotism through an action song. A video on the values of Mahatma Gandhi was presented. The Chief Guest Fr Leo D'souza SJ addressed the gathering by enlightening the values and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ in his address emphasised on the values of Mahatma Gandhi such as non-violence, truth, peace and sarvodaya (upliftment of all). He also advised to revive and to rekindle these values as we are about to enter an era known as “Amrith Kaal”.

The programme was compered by Ms Esther Nicole Rego, Master Mishal Arshad rendered the vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem. The school also organised shramadhan. Students from Scouts, Guides, NCC and other 25 students from class VI to VIII were participated in the campaign to clean the surrounding of the school.

Ms Vijayalakshmi, Ms Precilla Sequeira, Ms Mallika and Ms Reema DSouza R coordinated the programme.
