The feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga, our Patron Saint was celebrated on 20 June 2023, at St Aloysius Gonzaga School. The students of class VI – X gathered in the Gonzaga Hall for the celebration. The programme commenced by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song. The Semi Classical dance performance by the students caught up everyone’s attention and the melodious group song was soothing to ears. A drama was performed on ‘Transformation to a better version of oneself’ which highlighted on imbibing the values of our patron and bringing about a positive change in others’ lives.
The Chief Guest Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, Finance Officer St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru highlighted the life of our patron St Aloysius Gonzaga and the history of Jesuits in Mangalore. “Students are citizens who are journeying towards a better tomorrow” said Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ while asking them to follow the path of St Aloysius Gonzaga by being helpful, selfless and kind.
The Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ in his address said that our patron St Aloysius Gonzaga excelled in human qualities and highlighted the qualities of St Aloysius Gonzaga who served others, helped people and embraced a simple life. He also highlighted International Yoga Day by speaking about the importance of staying healthy and fit and urged the students to practice yoga to keep themselves fit.
Suman Saldanha of class XI welcomed the gathering and Dithan of Class VII C proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Aisha Alia of IX B. Ms Vidya Esther and Ms Lorina Ivy Dsouza were the programme coordinators.
