Continuous Professional Development Training by CBSE Topic: - Experiential Learning for Teachers

CBSE has taken an initiative to enrich the knowledge of teachers by providing Continuous Professional Development training in various topics. Two days of Capacity Building Programme on Experiential Learning for Teachers was organised by CBSE CoE, Bengaluru on 23-05-2023 and 24-05-2023 at St Aloysius Gonzaga School, Mangaluru.

   The Resource persons were Ms Laxmi Inchal, Principal of Love Dale Central School, Belgaum and Mr Pandurang Kadu Patil, Principal of S.M. Kaluti Composite Sports English Medium High School, Belagavi. The session began with the blessings of the Almighty God through a prayer song and followed by lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. The resource persons were welcomed and introduced by our Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ. Principal highlighted on the importance of Experiential learning and how it can help the teachers and students to develop a better learning environment.

      The purpose of this training programme was to enrich the teachers about implementing Experiential learning methodology in their teaching learning process. 60 teachers participated in this programme. The Day 1 session began with an ice – breaking activity followed with a lot of inputs on what is experiential learning and the importance of Kolb’s Cycle that helps us to understand how the knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. The implementation of Bloom’s Taxonomy and its three domains in our lesson plans and teaching methodology were well explained through a lot of activities and group discussions. The Day 2 session was focused on L.A.A.R strategy and how it could be practiced in our teaching methodology. A lot of insights on Multiple Intelligence and its 9 types were well explained through examples and activities. Both the days were fruitful sessions for all the teachers and we gained more knowledge on how to implement Experiential learning in our classroom.

       The programme was compered by Ms Vidya Esther and Ms Deepthi Karkada and vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Preethan Renita Periera. The programme was coordinated by Ms Deepa Karkada and assisted by Ms Shashikala.
