The Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola

The Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus was celebrated at St Aloysius Gonzaga School with great zest and zeal.

The catholic staff attended the holy eucharistic mass which was held on 30 July 2022, in the Loyola Hall. Rev. Fr Clifford Fernandes, Parish Priest, Holy Cross Church, Cordel was the main celebrant of the Eucharistic celebration.

The Cultural programme was held on 01 August 2022 and Fr Anil D’Mello SJ, Superior of Fathima Retreat House, Mangaluru was the Chief Guest of the programme. The programme commenced by invoking God’s blessing through a prayer song, followed by the significance of the day. A video on the life of St Ignatius of Loyola was played to help the students know their Founder better. A skit was performed on ‘Gratitude’ which was applauded by all.

The Chief Guest Fr Anil D’Mello SJ urged the students to imbibe the qualities of St Ignatius of Loyola by respecting their parents, teachers and one another. He also added that the most important is to be men and women for others when they grow up.

The Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ in his address highlighted the contribution made by St Ignatius of Loyola on, education for all. He gave a call to students to get inspired by the life of the Saint who is an epitome of perseverance, determination and passion to learn.

As a preparation for the feast, the school conducted various activities. Students participated in these activities with passion and interest. Ms Lorina Ivy DSouza welcomed the gathering and Amy DSouza of Class VII proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Anna Maria Patrao of Class X. Ms Beena Pais and Ms Acquina Rebello were the programme coordinators.
