REPORT ON CAREER GUIDANCE AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

When we meet new people at work, school, or social events, it is often their personality that grabs our attention. Understanding how personality develops, gives us insight into who they are and their background. It also increases our understanding of what's behind our own personality traits and characteristics. An individual's personality sometimes makes them more adaptable to certain jobs. Knowing about our personality type can help us discover the ideal job and work environment for suitable to us. Understanding the importance of the topic, St Aloysius Gonzaga School, organized a session on Career Guidance and Personality Development on the 18th March 2022, for the students of class X. The program began with the melodious prayer song led by the students. Ms. Jisha V Thomas introduced the guests - Dr Dereck Lobo and Mrs. Patsy Lobo. Principal in his address highlighted the importance of personality and how it reflects in ones career. Dr. Dereck initiated the session mainly focusing on the growth that begins after exams. He explained the need of the seven soft skills, which are both beneficial for individuals personality as well as career, ways to choose a career and resume making tips for the students. He also highlighted the two mandatory skills required in various fields- English language and Computer skills. Mrs. Patsy engrossed the students with an interactive session on personality development. Students were able to introspect about their qualities and also view them from a friends perspective. As the students were going to face the exam, Mrs Patsy Lobo also accentuated the ways to handle exam fear and techniques to reduce stress. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms Vidya Esther. The programme coordinator and the master of the ceremony was Ms. Deepa Karkada.
