On the 15th of March 2025, the students of class XI and XII of St Aloysius Gonzaga School set out to Tannirbhavi beach, Mangalore for a beach cleaning drive as part of their club activities. The school bus set out from the school and upon arrival at the beach, instructions were provided, followed by the students sorting themselves into groups. Various kinds of waste items, such as plastic cups, plastic and glass bottles, nylon ropes and bottles caps were collected. The cleaning continued for two hours, at the end of which, the bags were carried away from the shore and left for the beach authorities to dispose. The students collected 29 bags worth of trash, gathered by a total of 31 students. The students reported that it was a great experience and an educational event where they got the opportunity to try something beneficial for the environment. The students were accompanied by their teachers, Ms Deepa Elizabeth Karkada and Ms Lavanya R Shetty from the Eco Club as well as Ms Tanuja H Domber and Ms Sushmita Rachel Pinto from the Sahaya Club.
