CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Happy Classroom

As part of the Capacity-Building programme of CBSE, teachers of St Aloysius Gonzaga School attended an off-line training session on the topic "Happy Classroom" in the school hall. The eminent resource persons from CBSE, Mr Suresh M Mahalingapur, Principal Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir and M. Praveena Shetty, Principal Raj Academy High School, shared their views and experiences on some of the main ways in which Happy Classroom can be achieved. Principal Fr Mewlyn Anil Lobo SJ addressed the gathering highlighting the significance of the Capacity Building Programme. The self-exploratory session began with Mr Suresh M Mahalingapur discussing self-awareness, self-regulation and the importance of healthy minds. The interactive workshop aimed to help teachers realize the importance of and the pathways to happiness. Teachers were given a reflective exercise in which they were asked to create a poster on challenges faced in the classroom and challenges faced in the staffroom. Model replies of teachers in any given circumstance should be to respond instead of react, which ultimately makes the teacher emerge as a more confident individual. The session conducted by Ms Praveena Shetty introduced various teaching techniques, such as storytelling, total physical response, and think-pair-share, to make learning more interactive and enjoyable. The workshop explored strategies to create a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel safe, valued and motivated to learn. It discussed ways to assess the happiness quotient of both teachers and students.Ms Swathi Bharath welcomed the gathering. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Deepthi Karkada. The programme was compered by Ms Ashwini Shaina Lewis and Ms Deepa Karkada coordinated the training session.
