
St Aloysius Gonzaga School marked the 78th Independence Day on 15 August 2024, with immense enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The Chief Guest Lt Colonel Vivek Bindra, Indian Army - District Works Officer Head Quarters Indian Coast Guard Mangaluru,Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ and Vice-principals Ms Laurel D
Souza and Ms Aparna Suresh graced the occasion. The Chief Guest, in his address, emphasized the importance of being good citizens and pursuing education to cultivate our minds. He remembered the sacrifices of soldiers and freedom fighters,urging students to respect their legacy. The Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ in his address highlighted that Independence Day is celebrated to honour the gift of freedom and to draw inspiration from our leaders as we strive towards a developing nation under the 2047 vision Viksit Bharat.
The dignitaries of the day were escorted by the NCC Cadets and hoisted the tricolour flag to commemorate the nation's independence. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by an impressive cultural performance highlighting the courage and heroism of our soldiers who fought for our country's sovereignty.
Ananya of class XI, Gianna Pinto of class V and Vedya Kamath of class IIIA compered the programme. Aiden Dsouza and Yashika of IV welcomed the gathering and Inaaya Shameer of class III proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was coordinated by Ms Beena Pais and Ms Shamitha Shetty. This event reminded us of the immense sacrifices of those who gave up their lives for the freedom of India.
