
A comprehensive session on the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) for students from class VI TO VIII was conducted in St Aloysius Gonzaga school on 24 July 2024 and for Classes IX to XII on 30 July 2024 respectively. Dr Vidya Vinutha D'Souza, Asst Dean School of Arts and Humanities, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) was the resource person. She discussed the important features of this Act. Various Case studies and real-life scenarios were presented by her to enhance their ability to identify possible victimized situations. She encouraged the students to speak up and assert their rights, fostering confidence to take action against any form of abuse. The students were informed about the helpline numbers, apps which came in handy to deal with such problems. The Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo, SJ expressed deep concern and requested the students to understand the need to eradicate this evil from the society so that the growing generation can face the society fearlessly and lead a life with great self-respect. The Vice principal Ms Laurel Dsouza and teachers were present in the session.
