On 19 July 2024, an awareness session on "Self-Breast Examination" was organized by St Aloysius Gonzaga School for the female teaching and non-teaching staff. Dr Jnaneshwari Jayaram, a Breast and Endocrine Surgeon at the Department of Oncosurgery, Father Muller Medical College Hospital & a parent of Ishanvi Hosmane of Class II and Dr Soujanya Mynalli Braggs, a Radiologist, were the resource persons.
Dr Jnaneshwari emphasized the importance of regular self-inspection and clinical self-examination for early breast cancer detection, noting that 80% of cases are detected at an advanced stage. She stressed that timely treatment can cure breast cancer. The speakers discussed various diagnostic methods and concluded the session with a video on Breast Self-Examination (BSE).
Ms Laavanya Shetty welcomed the gathering, Ms Preethi Pais proposed the vote of thanks, and Ms Reema D'Souza compered the programme. Vice-principals Ms Laurel Dsouza and Ms Aparna Suresh were present. Ms Aparna Suresh coordinated the programme.
