Report on Teachers' Day celebration (2021-22)
"Great teachers have the ability to change lives for the better." It is granted that technology has opened the door of new learning and has also changed the course of education. But a good teacher has the power to change the life of young minds and ignite them in the most perfect way. Amidst the pandemic, St Aloysius Gonzaga School, Mangaluru celebrated teachers' day on 5th September with great enthusiasm showing due respect to all the teachers and appreciated their role played in the life of students. This day marks the birth anniversary of our first Vice-President & the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was also a visionary educator. The programme commenced with a prayer song followed by some noteworthy performances by the students in the form of skit, dance and songs through recorded video presentation. Students from Kindergarten to Class X expressed their words of gratitude to their teachers which was played through video presentation

Head boy Rafan Ignatius Dsouza and Head Girl Jewel Isabella Cutinha along with the Student Council members coordinated and presented the entire video presentation given by students which made the teachers feel proud about their noble profession. The PTEC members organized few exciting games that brought joy and happiness among the teachers. Ms Priyanka Hazel M Dsouza, parent representative from Kindergarten section highlighted the significance of Teachers' day. She also acknowledged and appreciated the teachers for their hardwork and dedication. A gift as a token of love and gratitude was presented to all the teachers. Our Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ welcomed the chief guest Dr Farita N.F. Veigas, Principal of St Aloysius Institute of Education, President of the day, Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Ms Laurel Dsouza, Vice Principal, PTEC members, teaching and non-teaching staff with a cheerful welcome address highlighting the basic values of a teacher being creative, caring and compassionate towards their students which can provide a better learning environment. The Chief Guest, Dr Farita N.F. Veigas addressed the teachers with her valuable message focusing on the Teacher-Student relationship that could help the future generation to be better citizens. She also added that teachers are the main channel for providing the power of knowledge and education. Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ in his presidential address appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers but at the same time exhorted the teachers to gear up to face the changing demands of students. He also shared his experience about how a teacher being kind and compassionate can make a difference in a students' life. On this joyous occasion, the Rector along with Principal, Chief Guest and Vice-Principal released the School Annual Magazine - 9 (2020-21). The Management and Principal presented the staff with a gift as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
The programme was compered by Ms Samitha. Ms Janet Pereira, Ms Shobha D'souza, Ms Shashikala, Ms Mabel Pinto and Mr Shivanada facilitated the smooth execution of this programme. Words of gratitude were expressed by Ms Beena Pais. The programme concluded with a fellowship meal. It was a memorable day for all teachers. Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges.
