'Kannada Sambhrama' in St Aloysius Gonzaga School, Mangaluru

St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated Kannada Rajyothsava with great enthusiasm and grandeur on 1 November 2022. The Chief Guest of the programme Mr Mime Ramdas who is a versatile artist and a movie actor inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and addressed the students of classes I to XI with a motivational speech. Appreciating the efforts of the students to put up a programme depicting the culture of Karnataka, he highlighted the importance of learning the Kannada language and said that the rich heritage and culture of our state should be the essence of our life.  Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, addressed the gathering saying that we should be proud of our state, language and people.  Further, he gave a call to students to be inspired by the great poet Kuvempu quoting his poem "Elladaru iru, Enthadaru iru, Endendigu nee Kannadavaagiru". The cultural extravaganza which was inaugurated with mesmerizing magic tricks had Vigorous Veeragase-one of the popular folk dances of Karnataka, drama on Onake Obavva, a song depicting the valiant people who had selflessly fought to uphold the culture and heritage of Karnataka and left the audience, spellbound. Vice-principal, Ms Laurel D Souza was present during the programme.  Ms Roopa DSouza welcomed the gathering. Bhavin B of class IX highlighted the significance of the day and Ms Akshatha Kudla proposed the vote of thanks. Ethan Pinto and Samarth Salian of class IX and III compered the programme. The programme was coordinated by Ms Akshatha Kudla.
