"Srijana" 2022-23 Inter- School Indian Folk Fusion Dance and Science Working Model Competition

In view of successful completion of Decennial year, St Aloysius Gonzaga School hosted an Inter-School competition “Srijana”, a creative blend of science and dance, on 29 August 2022. The school organized two competitions – Indian Folk Fusion Dance and Science Working Model Competition for CBSE and ICSE Schools in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada District, in which twenty-four schools participated with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit.

The inaugural programme began with a prayer song followed by welcome dance performed by the Gonzagites. Symbolically the inauguration was done by unveiling the peacock feathers and lighting the lamp by the dignitaries Fr Melvin Joseph Pinto, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, Principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School, Ms Laurel Dsouza, Vice-principal, Ms Deepa Karkada and Ms Shilpa Ballal, Programme Coordinators, Ms Bhoomika, Teacher representative from Gurukula Public School and Ms Elsha Lewis, student participant from Mount Carmel Central School. In both the competitions, the students displayed their best talents or performance. The Chief Guest, Fr Melvin Joseph Pinto SJ addressed the gathering and said that one should exhibit their creativity without fear and not to compare oneself with others. He also highlighted that each one should have a goal and try their best to achieve it and fly high like an eagle. Our Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ appreciated all the teachers and students of the participant school. He also encouraged students on developing their innovative skill and be creative in thinking. The programme was compered by Ms Tanuja and the gathering was welcomed by Ms Deepa Karkada. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Preethan Pereira.

True to the theme, the vivacious dancers of 15 schools set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and this was a reflection of their passion and hard work. The choreography, synchronization and presentation of all the participant schools were excellent. The students of 22 schools presented their innovative ideas for the benefit of the society in the form of science working model.

The judges congratulated the winners and appreciated the performance of all the schools who have participated in this competition and encouraged them to enhance their talents. The judges for Indian folk fusion dance competition were Mr Mohan Raj, Mr Avil Dcruz and Mr Shubhakiran. The Science working model competition was judged by Mr Purushothama Chippar, Mr Arun Kumar and Ms Jyothi Simav Vaz.

The valedictory programme began with a prayer song and followed by a melodious special song sung by Gonzagites. A cheerful welcome address was given by Ms Beena Pais. The experience of the competition and the day spent in St Aloysius Gonzaga School was shared by Diya Yashodhar of Lourdes Central School and K. Surabhi Rao of St Mary’s English Medium School. The Chief Guest, Dr. Surfraz J. Hasim, Principal of P.A. First Grade College, Mangaluru addressed the students with his motivational message and encouraged students to set a goal in life and go forward it achieving the goal. He also highlighted on the importance of respecting teachers and elders. Principal, Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ congratulated all the students for their best performance in the dance competition and the young innovators who had displayed their ideas in the form of science working models. He also mentioned that students need to be focused and make use of the various opportunities and platforms to exhibit their talents and knowledge. Ms Laurel Dsouza, Vice-principal congratulated all the participants and winners of this competition for their outstanding performance in both Indian Folk Fusion Dance and Science working model competition.The best three science working models and the best three Indian Folk Fusion dances were awarded with trophies, mementos and certificates. All schools that participated were given memento and participation certificates as a token of gratitude. The programme was compered by Ms Gloria Misquith and the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Shilpa Ballal. The Programme was coordinated by Ms Deepa Karkada and Ms Shilpa Ballal.

1st Place – St Theresa’s School, Mangaluru

2nd Place – Madhava Kripa English Nursery and Higher Primary School, Manipal

3rd Place – St Agnes CBSE School, Mangaluru

The winners of Science working model competition:

1st Place – Delhi Public School, Mangaluru

2nd Place – Cambridge School, Paldane, Mangaluru

3rd Place– Bantwal Raghurama Mukunda Prabhu Centenary Public School, Bantwal
