Annual Sports Day - Class VI to XI

St Aloysius Gongaza School, organized the Annual Sports Day, on the 21st of November, 2022, for the academic year 2022-23 at Mangala Stadium. This occasion was graced by Dr Gerald Santhosh D’Souza, Director and Chairman, Department of Physical Education Mangaluru University, as chief guest and was presided over by Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, Rector of St Aloysius institutions, Mangaluru. The other dignitaries present were Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ and Vice -principal Ms Laurel D’Souza,

The opening ceremony commenced with the arrival of the chief guest, escorted by the elegantly attired guard of honour. This was followed by the raising of the flag and the exquisite March past, which rejuvenated the spirit of the sportsman in everyone’s heart and mind. Ms Deepa Karkada welcomed the august gathering. The Chief guest Dr Gerald Santhosh DSouza unfurled the flag and declared the meet open amidst resounding applause.

The Chief guest expressed in his message that participation is all that counts. He also stressed physical exercise as they keep one fit always.

Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, in his presidential remarks, congratulated students for their spectacular march past and display. He applauded the participation spirit and stated that sports are not a distraction from studies, but instead will prepare you better for it.  Principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, in his address, stressed that every student should take up at least one sport to enhance physical fitness. Ms Acquina Rebello proposed the vote of thanks.

After the inaugural ceremony, various track events were conducted. Ms Vidya Esther compered the inaugural ceremony.

The Chief guest, Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal of St Aloysius College(Autonomous)  gave a motivational message at the Valedictory ceremony. He congratulated all the students for their participation and applauded the winners for their energy and sportsmanship and concluded his speech by quoting “Winners do not quit and quitters do not win”. Principal Melwyn Anil Lobo congratulated the winners as well as the participants of the athletic meet. In his concluding address, he urged students to have a sportsmanship attitude as well as a lifestyle, to persevere and achieve excellence. The winners were awarded a medal, certificates and trophies. Ms Tanuja Domber proposed the vote of thanks and Ms Arunima Thulasidas compered the Valedictory ceremony.

Yellow House bagged the overall championship. Runners-up were bagged by the blue house.

This beautiful event was concluded by lowering of the school flag and singing the National Anthem. The Gonzagaites carried home the sweet cherished memories of Annual Sports Day 2022.
