St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated the 69th Republic Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety in the school. The celebrations commenced with a devotional prayer song by the school choir. The Principal unfurled the National Flag followed by the National Anthem.
Ms Emerita Pearl of class VIII welcomed the gathering. Ananya of class VII highlighted the importance of the day. Ms Laurel D’souza emphasised the need of following the rules of our constitution. Various competitions were conducted in connection with Republic day and the winners were honoured with certicates by the Principal. The Principal addressed the gathering on the sanctity of the occasion and the role played by the constitional makers, with particular reference to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.
The cultural programme commenced with a patriotic song titled “Vande Mataram” a perfect tribute to our motherland. The students of class 6 staged a street play on fundamental rights and duties. Through the play, students brought out the need and necessity to know and understand the constitutional rights.
The events that followed included a beautiful patriotic dance, performed by the students of class III that received much deserved applause from the audience present. A group of students performed yoga which highlighted the eight levels of development in the areas of physical, mental, social and spiritual health among the present generation. Vote of thanks was delivered by Malavika Sajith Nambiar of class VII followed by the School Anthem.
The students dispersed after the distribution of sweets with the image of the fluttering tricolour in their minds.
